The 80th OECD Tax Seminar on“Train the Trainers on Transfer Pricing"

2-7 September 2013, Seoul, Korea

 

 

□ The Tax Programme, OECD Korea Policy Centre (Director General: CHO, Kyu Bum) hosted the 80th Tax Seminar on Train the Trainers on Transfer Pricing on 2-7, September, 2013 at Novotel Ambassador Gangnam Hotel in Seoul, Korea.

 

□ In this seminar, 25 tax officials from 16 non-OECD economies including Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, and Tanzania gathered to build training skills as well as expertise in relation to transfer pricing to train their staff or colleagues through various presentations and case studies. Participants were able to deepen their understanding about Transfer Pricing and also enhance their abilities in delivering lectures and presentations.

 ㅇ Participants actively took part in discussing and sharing knowledge on the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines. They also had an opportunity to present and lead each sessions of the seminar. Participants evaluated this experience to be very meaningful, garnering valuable knowledge and practical presentation skills which were applicable to their daily works in their respective countries.

Main Issues of the Seminar

□ Main issues dealt at the seminar are as follows:

    - Main concepts of Transfer Pricing (TP)

    - Transfer Pricing Methods and Comparability, Intra-group Services

    - Issues on Auditing Cross-border Transactions

    - Training Skills

 

 

□ Three experts, Stefaan De Baets (OECD), Wolfgang Buttner (Germany) and Bob Fisher (United Kingdom) shared up-to-date issues regarding transfer pricing to strengthen the participants' capabilities. Another expert, Carl Pullein (United Kingdom) shared his experience and knowledge of presentation skills with the participants.

 ○ Participants were able to not only strengthen their practical capabilities but also gain much interest toward international taxation issues. They also showed sincere appreciation to the KTC and its members for hosting and managing the event.

 

 

Closing Ceremony & Experiencing the Korean History and Culture

 

 

 ㅇ On Saturday, participants went on a study tour to visit places such as Changdeok Palace, N-Tower, and Namdaemoon Market which helped the participants further learn and deepen their understanding about the Korean culture and history.
