ㅁ This seminar will explore the assessment of market power and, in situations where the market power amounts to dominance, practices that may be an abuse of that dominant position. Some of the abusive practices are vertical restraints. The seminar will include discussions of the economic theory underlying abuse of dominance cases, and also will present case studies and hypothetical exercises that raise practical considerations for competition enforcers. The seminar will also consider state-created monopolies, the use of advocacy, and remedies. Throughout the program, participants are encouraged to share ideas and experiences, and to ask questions.
