The Second Multi-Country Study Mission on Public Governance for Asian Public Servants

Multi-country Study Mission on Public Governance for Asian Public Servants
(Ramada Seoul Hotel, Seoul, Korea 20~21 November 2007)

1.Background
The OECD Asian Centre for Public Governance was established in 2005 under the Memorandum of Understanding between the OECD HQ and the Korean government with the mission to disseminate OECD countries’ achievements and best practices to the Asian region. In so doing, we seek to serve as the bridge between the OECD and Asia in the area of public governance and management. In line with this effort, we have initiated a Multi-country Study Mission on Public Governance since last year, with a view to sharing knowledge and experiences among the OECD and non-OECD member countries in the field of public governance. We believe this Multi-country Study Mission enables participants to understand reform initiatives and practices for better governance in the public sector.

2. Goals of the Mission
- Disseminate the OECD countries’ experiences and good practices in public sector reform to the non-OECD member countries, especially the Asian region
- Provide the non-OECD member countries with the opportunity to share experiences and good practices one another, and to discuss on the future directions in their governments for better governance
- Bridge between the OECD and Asia with the perspective of the public governance
